The Warriors of the Stone
Berrian is a mage who obsesses with his own failure. He does not always fare well in fights, and every time he loses faith, his lust for power becomes greater.
Berrian comes from a family of elvish magic users. The family usually had a gift for the talent, but it did not seem to lie with Berrian. He was sent to an academy regardless. His first couple years proved to be disasterous, but as time went on, Berrian resolved to work harder. Eventually, he moved to the top of his class and surpassed his early expectations. As he ventured into the world, his one concern was to make the world a better place using the powers at his disposal. As time went on, he learned that the world could not be changed with the power he currently possesed. This epiphany caused him to reassess his moral structure, eventually deciding that the pursuit of power for the benefit of others was good in itself. However, as time went on, and the blows to his morale set in, his focus stopped being on helping other people, but rather, to the pursuit of power for his own means. He who has the power makes the rules, and those who follow them best hope he’s a benevolent ruler.
